A quiet, characterful portrait of a brown hare, created in wool and fibre using needle-felting techniques. The piece captures a moment of stillness, with the hare looking directly out from the artwork, alert and watchful.
Layers of natural-toned wool and fine fibres have been carefully built up to create the soft markings, expressive eyes and wonderfully shaggy texture of the hare’s coat. Loose fibres around the ears, face and chest are deliberately left visible, allowing the tactile quality of the wool to become part of the portrait.
This original artwork has now found its new home, but remains here as part of the portfolio of Anita E. Stephens.
